RVI (remote visual inspection)

RVI is an acronym for Remote Visual Inspection. Most commonly performed with variations of borescopes and fiberscopes, Remote Visual Inspections allow an NDT technician to look at materials and objects (most commonly parts or components of machinery) from a distance. RVI is mostly used when the inspection occurs in an unsafe or inaccessible environment. See related terms for some of the most common tools in the visual inspection industry.
